An influencer, an activist, a renaissance man, a servant — Mayor Corey L. Ramsey embodies

stellar leadership. Reared in a Christian family, his spiritual heritage is the foundation upon

which he stands. Four core values were intentionally instilled in Corey by his parents,

grandparents, and mentors: faith, determination, excellence, and leadership. These

attributes propelled him to excel academically, musically, spiritually, and socially.

A native of Bamberg, South Carolina, Corey is the fourth of five children and a proud

graduate of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School. Upon graduation, he entered the workforce

and—by the age of 21—had established himself in the restaurant industry as one of the

youngest General Managers in the history of Capital Restaurant Group, LLC., headquartered

in North Charleston, SC.

Since the age of 15, Corey has performed professionally as a saxophonist and continues to

serve as Minister of Music and Associate Minister in churches throughout South Carolina.

Mayor Ramsey is currently matriculating through the rigors of higher learning, expanding

his capacity to lead and serve. In recognition of his service and humanitarian efforts, he

holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism from the School of the Great Commission

Bible College and Seminary.

On April 10, 2023, Corey was elected to the Bamberg City Council and assumed the role of

City Commissioner for the Bamberg County Chamber of Commerce. On April 14, 2025, he

was inaugurated as the youngest Mayor ever elected in the City of Bamberg.

Mayor Ramsey is devoted to the engagement, empowerment, and achievement of his

community. He believes, and often states:

“If we engage our communities at the point of their need, we will be equipped to serve them

efficiently while empowering our people with knowledge in anticipation of unprecedented

achievement.”

To put this belief into action through both articulation and demonstration, he serves on the

Board of Directors of Rural Life Resources, Inc., and is the founder of Garden of Hope

International, Inc.—organizations dedicated to community development, economic

empowerment, and spiritual growth.

Mayor Ramsey is a devoted family man who adores his wife, Candice, and their children —

Corey L. Ramsey II, Zion, and Mila. He strives to lead his family and those he serves with

integrity, compassion, and competence. Above all, as a devout follower of Christ licensed to

the Gospel Ministry in 2024 by the Christian Covenant Fellowship of Ministries, Mayor

Ramsey’s mission is clear:

to exalt Jesus Christ, empower the community, and influence every culture of society for the

Glory of God.
